Richard Madeley's 'creepy' weather girl comments: Lucy Verasamy swaps mini dress for trousers on GMB... as Susanna Reid leaps to his defence

Good Morning Britain's weather girl Lucy Verasamy covered up in trousers on Thursday's show after Richard Madeley's 'creepy' comment about her attire.
The presenter, 61, who is filling in for Piers Morgan on the ITV show, said he was a fan of her denim look, before joking Lucy should 'test' the dress in the rain to see if it shrinks, seconds before introducing a feature on the #MeToo movement.
So it comes as little surprise that Lucy, 37, swapped her denim dress for something a little more conservative in a bid to avoid any more uncomfortable discussions.
Style icon: Richard had said he was a fan of her mini dress, (pictured) before joking Lucy should 'test' the dress in the rain to see if it shrinks, seconds before introducing a feature on the #MeToo movement

Lucy teamed black trousers with a silk cream blouse and added some inches to her height with nude court shoes.
And Richard's co-host Susanna Reid, 47, came to the defence of her co-star, saying: 'Richardis under fire for teasing the weather girl.
'Lucy, you were wearing a denim dress and you were worried it might shrink [in the rain].'
And Richard's co-host Susanna Reid, 47, (right) came to the defence of her co-star, saying: 'Richard was just interested to see what happened to the fabric. It's an experiment, in the public interest'

Lucy responded: 'Yes, denim is not good in the rain.'
Susanna continued: 'I said you should stay indoors and he said you should go outside to see if it would shrink.'
Lucy added: 'That's because everyone wants to see the wusanna noted that Lucy has since changed her look, saying: 'You have dressed appropriately for the weather?'
And Lucy replied: 'Yes I've got trousers on, comfortable trousers, classic.'
Richard's previously comments were awkwardly followed by a segment on the recent sexual harassment scandal in Hollywood - causing viewers to brand him 'pervy' on Twitter.
Lucy had already received high praise on the social media site for her denim mini dress, as she presented the weather for the week.
After her first forecast, Richard, noted: 'We are liking the denim look, Lucy, it's Dolly Parton!'
Dazzling viewers throughout the show, the presenter proceeded to comment on her look once again later on, and shocked viewers with a saucy joke about the dress' material.

Blunder: Richard was previously slammed by viewers for complimenting Lucy's dress, before introducing a feature on the #MeToo movement the day before

Big fan: After Lucy confirmed there would be heavy rain all week, she said of her look: 'I'm a bit worried its going to shrink in the rain, which was not the greatest move for the weather today!'

Before Richard shocked viewers by joking: 'I think you should pop outside at once and test it out!'
Met with laughter from the panel, Lucy simply responded: 'Oh yeah, thanks for that Richard.'
Only making things worse, the host then proceeded to introduce a segment on the #MeToo movement - which stands against the recent sexual harassment scandal in Hollywood. One viewer wrote: 'Richard Madeley is easier on the ear in the mornings on #GMB but less of the creepy comments please', followed by a horrified emoji.

While another said awkwardly: '#gmb madeley nearly had his own #me2 moment there...'
Another added in shock: '#RichardMadeley on GMB making a pervy comment to Lucy Veresmy about her denim dress.......then having to make the next link about the #MeToo movement! Doh... Alan ‘f***ing idiot’ Partridge-a-like. [sic]
While others chimed in: 'I don't think I've ever seen a more awkward person on TV than Richard Madeley' and 'Richard Madeley making another cringey comment there to Lucy Versami uurggh #GMB' [sic]
However a number of other viewers ignored the blunder to instead shower praise on Lucy and her stylish ensemble herself.
One wrote: 'Lucy verasamy looking superb in her denim outfit. A weather wonder'. [sic]
While another poked fun at Richard's backlash by writing: 'Oooohhh Lucy... Oops sorry, maybe not allowed to say that anymore'
Richard was compared to Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge for the incident - having already been aligned with the famous character on Monday's show.
The host had shown off his guitar skills to Joe Elliott from Def Leppard, but viewers noted his similarity to bumbling Alan as he tried to outplay the rock star.

Doing his bit: Richard has been co-hosting the show with Susanna Reid all week, in place of Piers Morgan
