Hardcore Disney fans were more than excited when they caught their first glimpse of the trailer for Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2. Where the original movie cashed in on some of gamers’ favorite characters, this one promises the same with classic characters — including the Disney Princesses.
One princess, in particular, stood out, and not just because she was brandishing a broken glass slipper as a weapon
Cinderella’s 3D design looks very different from the original, despite sharing what appears to be every quality. She has the bangs, she has the impeccable updo, she has the blue gown, but it still feels off…
Finally, one Twitter user was able to sniff it out, and she didn’t want her realization to fall on deaf ears.Pretty ear-y eerie, right?
It appears that 1950’s Cinderella was drawn before Congress voted to allow women to have ears. Kidding, of course. But how else do we explain the fact that Cinderella didn’t have ears? Surely it can’t be because they were just tucked underneath her hair.
Perchance, when Cinderella’s fairy godmother bibbidi-bobbidi-boo’d her, she forgot to include her ears — so now we know the person to blame for Cinderella’s not hearing the clock strike midnight. Also joining Cinderella in Wreck-It Ralph 2 are Elsa, Jasmine, Belle, Moana, Rapunzel, Mulan, and a slew of others. There, Vanellope, the spunky racer from the original movie, bonds with them over the fact that they’re all princesses who don’t need to be saved. Rapunzel even asks, “Do people assume all your problems got solved because a big, strong man showed up?”
Vanellope responds, “Yes! What is up with that?”
Just in case you’re curious, someone did have the foresight to Photoshop the new Cinderella design as she was originally drawn.
