Life is not going well for George Papadopoulos, the former Trump campaign aide who bragged of his Russian contacts and may have gotten “dirt” on Hillary Clinton from the Russians.
Papadopoulos pled guilty to lying to investigators in January, leading Trump to distance himself from the former aide dismissed as a mere “coffee boy.”
Since his guilty plea, many have speculated that he wore a wire to help the investigation. His wife Simona Mangiante Papadopoulos strongly denies that in a new interview with Chicago’s WLS.
“I can tell you quite surely that he never wore a wire,” she said. “When he started the cooperation, he couldn’t have any contact with the Trump administration directly, indirectly, so why would he wear a wire… to talk with whom?”
Simona Mangiante Papadopoulos also revealed that she and her husband are going through rough times. They are “broke” and cannot find jobs.
“He can’t work. He can’t interact with anyone related indirectly to Trump,” she said. “His life is on hold. And it’s very difficult, when you’re a young person building your career. Our finances are terrible. No, zero, zero income.”
Things are so bad that the newlyweds have moved out of their tony apartment and back in with his mother.
