Thanks to social media, a moving gesture of respect has gone viral.
Louisiana news affiliate WAFB reports that mourners were taking part in a funeral procession Friday when they noticed a group of teen boys playing basketball in Franklinton, La. As the cars passed, the boys stopped their game and each took a knee in acknowledgment of the loss.
Lynn Bienvenu, who was en route to the funeral for her cousin, Velma Kay Crowe, captured the moment and later shared it on Facebook.
While attending a family funeral the procession passed a group of young boys shooting hoops. Take a look closely. They took a knee not out of disrespect but honor. They was not an adult insight to tell them to stop playing. This meant a great deal to our family. May God bless each one as I feel they will achieve greatness.

Her post has been shared more than 2,700 times, with countless comments praising the “display of respect and compassion for others.”
The boys have since been identified as Shimar Davis, Shimon Davis, Edward James, Brandon Burton, Quindon Burris, Stacy Ard, James Bickham, Avant Money, Malachi Martin, and Kalarrian Dillon. Locals say that teachers at Franklinton Junior High School have hammered in the importance of treating funeral processions with respect.
